What is a Virus Scan and Update Package?

An annual subscription to our Virus Scan and Update Package provides you with peace-of-mind that your computer is free of malicious software and viruses and has the latest security updates installed. We also update the Windows operating system and perform other updates to keep your software up-to-date, secure and running smoothly.

What is Included?

Included with your annual package subscription is:

  • Four deep virus scan and removal sessions (one per quarter).
  • Regular Windows operating system updates.
  • Other software update checks to keep all your software secure and working smoothly.
  • Occasional telephone support to help you recognise spam emails and dangerous websites to avoid hackers.

How is the Service Performed?

We assume you have Windows 10 or 11 as your operating system on your computer. Older systems such as Windows 7 need to be upgraded prior to subscribing to this service. This may be performed by purchasing a one-time Home Visit for Non-Members.

If you have a Mac or Chromebook, please contact us prior to booking this service as you may need to install remote access software prior to your first booking appointment.

Your first appointment includes an optional home visit where we can perform the deep virus scan and updates and answer any questions face-to-face. Thereafter, these services will be delivered by remote access. Remote access is where we safely access your computer remotely to perform the scans and updates. You just need to make a booking at a time that suits you and we will call you at the start of the allotted time to establish the connection which requires your approval each time. We then remotely perform the scans and updates and will call you when we have finished.

Why Do I Need It?

Computers are one of the major targets that hackers and spammers try to exploit. With an increasing use of the internet, you need to ensure that you have the latest virus protection updates installed and that your operating system is up-to-date to fix any potential vulnerabilities. Do you receive SPAM emails? Yes, we all do. Sometimes they look legitimate but are actually hackers trying to infect your computer.

We might not be able to stop those annoying, fake telephone calls that purport to be from the tax office or Amazon; but you can take steps to minimise your risk of exposing your computer, email and internet browsing to spammers and hackers by having the latest software updates, virus definitions and performing a regular deep virus scan with special software. You do not need to purchase expensive anti-virus software, the built-in Windows software is more than capable these days.

What Are the Next Steps?

To subscribe, follow these steps in the booking form below:

  1. Read about the package then click the Continue button.
  2. Select a suitable date and time.
  3. Enter your details in the online form.
  4. Make a payment using your debit or credit card (via Stripe – a trusted and secure payment provider).
  5. You will receive a confirmation email with your first appointment details.
  6. We will call you at the start of the appointment as described above.
  7. To make your next booking, login to our website and go to Manage My Bookings and select your next appointment date and time.

After you have booked your appointment and paid, you will be redirected to a thank you page that has further information about each of our services and the next steps. In addition, you will receive one or more emails confirming your booking and providing additional information. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Yes, you may manage your bookings easily. To edit / reschedule your booking and submit a new time and / or date, go to the menu “Help” and select “Manage My Bookings” from the dropdown list or click this link. The process is easy and self-explanatory. If you have any issues please contact us.

You may manage your booking to cancel or reschedule it. Please go to the menu “Help” and select “Manage My Bookings” from the dropdown list or click this link. However, in order to process a refund if you have paid for a one-off booking that you wish to cancel and not reschedule, please contact us. Please note that subscriptions are not normally subject to refunds beyond your legal rights.

Not usually. Devices can be expensive and complex to fix. We will take a look at the devices to see if there is an easy fix but generally we recommend purchasing new or refurbished devices if your existing device is faulty. The prices for reasonably capable consumer technology have dropped over the years and it is usually less expensive to replace than repair.
