Thanks for your booking. This page will describe the next steps and what to expect with your appointment. Each service is listed below with an explanation of what to expect. Just click the heading to read the details. Remember, please contact us if you have any questions.

This annual subscription is our premium, fully featured support package. As part of the sign-up process, you would have already made your first booking. You will receive a confirmation email containing the appointment details as well as a reminder email the day before your appointment.

Your home visit appointments are one hour in length. We will attend the appointment at the planned time and location (your home).

Whether you booked a Home Visit as a Non-Member or a FREE home visit as a Member, the process is the same.

After booking, you will receive a confirmation email containing the appointment details as well as a reminder email the day before your appointment. Your home visit appointments are one hour in length. We will attend the appointment at the planned time and location (your home).

Home visits can be used for any type of service from virus scanning, software updates, connecting to WiFi, sorting out email problems and so on. For Non-Members, I have a special offer for setting up a device such as when you buy a new computer, phone or Smart TV – see here.

Whether you booked attendance at one of our events, talks, presentations or workshops either as a Member (for FREE) or as a Non-Member, the process is as follows:

Zoom is an online video conferencing service like Skype or Facetime where you can see the other caller in an online meeting space, share your desktop, view presentations etc.

If you booked either the Free Introduction Zoom Meeting (meant for Non-Members who want to find out more about our services), or the STS Member Zoom Meeting, the next steps are as follows:

After booking, you will receive a confirmation email containing the link to log in to the Zoom meeting as well as a reminder email the day before your appointment. Zoom meetings do not require you to have the Zoom software installed on your computer (but you can if you want), as they will open in your internet browser if you do not have the software installed.

You can join the meeting prior to the appointment time to ensure everything is working as it should (video, speakers and microphone).

If you are a Member and want us to setup a device for you, please book one of your FREE or discounted additional home visits. The Device Setup Service for Non-Members is a specialised service to ensure your new computer, phone, Smart TV or other device is properly installed, connected and set-up. This includes any required data backups and transfers as well as software updates and testing to ensure it is setup to meet your expectations so you can start using it as soon as we are finished.

During the booking process, we will ask you to complete some questions about the device(s) that you require to be setup. We will meet you at the appointment time, perform the setup and ensure the device is working as expected. If you require more than one device setup, please book another appointment as there is a limit of one device setup per appointment slot. Ideally they will be consecutive timeslots (you may edit appointments via the link as described at the top of this page).

This is where we can offer support for your computer without the need for a home visit. This can be used to help solve computer issues, perform software updates or run virus scanning. It saves us travel time and means you can use this FREE service as part of your STS Member Annual Subscription package without using up a home visit.

Using the remote access software, we can run diagnostic tools to help identify problems and you can show us what is causing you issues or show us that strange email that concerns you.

As it is an online remote support request, we will call you at the beginning of the appointment to establish the online connection to your computer. Unless needed, you do not need to be on the call all the time and we will call you back once we have finished.

If you have subscribed to our Virus Scan and Update Package, you would have booked your initial appointment when you subscribed. You are entitled to another three deep virus scanning and software update sessions as part of your package which may be booked any time within your 12 month subscription.

We generally like to do a home visit for the initial appointment and then run the scans remotely thereafter.
